Yesterday was my first day in the Cesky Tesin Gymnazium (=High School). I had a hard time eating breakfast that morning, because I was so nervous. But once I got to the school, and walked into the auditorium to find all the other "1st graders" sitting there fidgetting and playing with they're hands, I knew I hadn't been the only one. I found my friends from my old school, all sitting in the front row, quiet and nervous as I was. So we sat there and waited and waited, for what seemed like and eternity, for the teachers to come and split us into classes according to what laguage we wanted to study. There were sixty of us altogether and after convincing a few people from the German side to come to the French, none of which were friends from my old school, our classes were equally split and we made our way, with our homeroom teacher, down to our homeroom.
We sat down at our desks, and a quiet filled the room like I haven't heard in years. My class that I was in from the beginning of 1st grade to the end of 9th, was supposedly the worst in the whole school. It was crazy. You could hardly ever hear the teacher over the racket of the kids in the class....so it was hard to keep up with schoolwork. So it was awesome to now actually be able to hear the teacher. Ha ha! She took roll of our classroom, and I knew even before she said my name, that I was next on her list. They always have the worst time trying to pronounce it, and so we just left it at "Hanka", instead of Hannah. We got our basic information and left for home.
Today, we went to see a Romeo and Juliet musical. All of us girls in the class introduced ourselves to each other and I made a couple new friends, one of which was Terka. A really sweet, fun girl, who I hung out with for the rest of the day.
I am really excited for this year. it is going to be difficult on the studying level, but it'll be awesome to make new friends. So I would like ton ask for your prayers. That God would help me to build friendships that would really open a door for me to witness to the kids in my classroom, and even invite them to English camps. It's exciting to think about what God has instore for me and others in this High School!
Thanks!
Hannah
